Topic: Iron County's Woods and Waters Program - High School Citizen Science Project
Presenter: Zach Wilson, Conservation Specialist, Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department
Description: The Woods and Waters program at the Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in 2020. Zach will share his experiences coordinating this program, which was designed to engage high school students in learning about forestry, wildlife research, and water resources. Students had opportunities to study American Martens during the “Woods” component and studied common loons for the “Waters” portion. Join this webinar to hear how high school students have provided the state with important information about the American Martin, and have not only helped study loons, but helped loons to thrive.
